Announcing Simon Barnett as Research Director
We founded Dimension to partner and serve the world’s leading entrepreneurs at the interface of life science and technology. From the earliest whiteboard sketches of a future firm we aspired to build, we knew it could not be just the three of us to alone serve this purpose. To that end, today we’re thrilled to announce Simon Barnett as the newest member of our team.
Simon joins as Research Director and will play a foundational role in building and leading the research function at Dimension. He was most recently Director of Life Sciences Research at ARK Invest where he helped scale the firm from the early innings, having seen both the boom and bust of an economic cycle, and partnered with many of today's leading management teams at the frontiers of science and technology. We first met Simon in 2021 as numerous of our entrepreneurs ranked him as a preferred partner in late stage, crossover, and public financings. From our conversations with those in the industry, Simon has rapidly established himself as a sought after confidant and thought partner to those dreaming to build and commercialize the highest potential impact ventures our markets host today. As we’ve spent more time with him, it has become increasingly clear why this has been the case. Simon brings together an insatiable curiosity for cutting edge science, a relentless work ethic, and an uncanny ability to bring together disparate threads of information across a wide range of topics/sources into a cohesive assessment. These attributes complement the investing approach at Dimension and we are excited to have Simon’s support to build out an internal Research practice at the firm.
As we wrote in our founding letter, the firm is more than an aggregation of individual choosers of securities. To be the best partners for our entrepreneurs, we endeavor to work collectively across investment and research functions. As Research Director, Simon will help lead Dimension’s thesis building, productize market insight for our entrepreneurs, help systematize and streamline diligence operations, and author our underwriting logic for the broader entrepreneur community and capital markets.
We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be partnered with the inspiring entrepreneurs who have entrusted us as stewards of their equity. Similarly we hope to continue to earn the right to be a home for leading investors, thinkers, analysts, and researchers who entrust their careers to Dimension. As a team we do not have a fixed roster, nor a minimum or maximum marker.
